Web and software development for Cayman Islands businesses
Grand Cayman holds one of the largest concentrations of financial-services businesses anywhere in the world and almost no local software supply. We build the internal systems and the client-facing sites that gap creates demand for, from Kolkata, asynchronously and by design.
We already deliver here, and we are straightforward about how
To be clear about the delivery model rather than leaving you to discover it: every engineer is in Kolkata and we hold no Cayman Islands entity or office. We state that once, plainly, because suppliers who register a local virtual address to appear established are misleading you and it is worth knowing which kind you are dealing with. Everything above is a claim you can test on the first call. Read what clients say.
The Cayman Islands are an unusual market to serve and a genuinely interesting one. A population of about seventy thousand supports thousands of investment funds, a substantial captive insurance sector, a dense concentration of law firms and corporate service providers, and a tourism and marine economy alongside it. The commercial sophistication is completely out of proportion to the size of the island.
What Cayman does not have is a deep pool of local software suppliers. Firms that need an investor portal, a document workflow that satisfies an auditor, or a booking system that stops them paying twenty per cent to an aggregator generally find themselves choosing between a large North American consultancy at North American prices and a freelancer. There is not much in between, which is where we come in.
We should be direct about the hardest part first. Cayman is ten and a half hours behind India and does not observe daylight saving, so your working morning is the middle of our night. The overlap is roughly one hour, between nine and ten in the morning Cayman time. We do not pretend this is a minor inconvenience. We run Cayman engagements asynchronously by design, with one fixed weekly call in that window and disciplined written handovers on either side of it, and we would rather tell you that now than discover it together in month two.
In exchange you get a team that has spent twenty years building exactly the kind of internal systems this market needs, at a fraction of what a Miami or Toronto consultancy charges, with the documentation and access discipline that a CIMA-regulated entity has to be able to evidence.
Two markets that share an island and nothing else
Work in Cayman divides so cleanly that it is worth treating as two separate businesses.
The financial-services side, meaning fund administrators, captive insurers, trust companies, law firms and corporate service providers, needs internal systems. Investor and client portals with proper access control. Document workflow with a complete audit trail. Reporting that an auditor or a regulator can follow without a covering explanation. Onboarding and know-your-customer processes that currently run on email and a shared drive. The binding constraint on these builds is almost never scale, because the volumes are modest. It is evidence: being able to show who did what, when, and under what authority.
The tourism, hospitality and marine side has a completely different problem, and it is a commercial one. Dive operators, charter businesses, villa rentals, restaurants and tour operators lose a substantial share of revenue to booking aggregators. The only durable answer is a direct channel good enough that guests prefer it: fast on a phone, honest about what the property or trip actually is, easy to book, and visible in search for the phrases people use when planning a Caribbean trip. That is a solvable problem and the return on solving it is the commission you stop paying.
We do both. They share almost no engineering and we do not pretend they are the same engagement.
In practice
Every engagement starts with a conversation, not a proposal template.

Working across ten and a half hours, honestly
Cayman sits on Eastern Standard Time year-round with no daylight saving. India is ten and a half hours ahead. Our working day of 09:30 to 19:30 IST is 23:00 to 09:00 in George Town. The only point at which both sides are plausibly at a desk is the very end of our day against the very start of yours: about 19:30 to 20:30 IST, which is 09:00 to 10:00 Cayman time.
An engagement that depends on frequent live conversation will not work under those conditions, so we do not structure them that way. Cayman projects run asynchronously as a deliberate design rather than as a compromise.
In practice that means one fixed live call a week inside the overlap, prepared for by both sides with an agenda circulated beforehand. Everything else happens in writing: a daily written update from us at the end of our day, which reaches you before you start; questions raised in a shared channel with enough context to be answered without a conversation; and decisions recorded in a single document rather than scattered across a thread.
This requires more discipline from us than a same-timezone engagement does, and it has a compensating benefit that Cayman clients consistently mention. Because everything is written, there is an unambiguous record of what was asked and what was agreed. Disputes about scope, which are the most common source of friction in software projects, largely do not occur.
What we will not promise
We will not claim to be available during your working day, because we are not. If your project genuinely needs a supplier reachable at two in the afternoon Cayman time, we are the wrong choice and a North American firm is the right one. What we offer instead is a supplier who is demonstrably working while you sleep and who writes everything down.
CIMA outsourcing expectations and the Cayman DPA
Two regulatory considerations shape how we structure Cayman engagements, and a regulated entity will need both answered before procurement gets anywhere.
The Data Protection Act (2021 Revision) is modelled closely on the GDPR, so if you have handled a European arrangement the principles will be familiar: a lawful basis, purpose limitation, data minimisation, and conditions on transfer to a jurisdiction without an equivalent regime. We work to the same structure we use for UK clients, which means contractual safeguards, named individuals with access, logging, and deletion obligations at the end.
The second layer matters more for regulated entities. CIMA expects a licensee to retain responsibility for outsourced functions and to be able to evidence oversight of the service provider, including one located offshore. In practice your regulator does not care that we are competent; it cares that you can demonstrate you assessed us, defined what we do, monitor it, and have a plan for what happens if we stop.
We build for that expectation rather than resisting it. Access is restricted to named individuals and logged. Every change is version controlled and traceable to a person. Documentation is written to be readable by someone who was not involved. An exit plan, including handover of code, credentials and documentation, is in the contract from day one rather than negotiated at the end. None of this is unusual for us and all of it is the sort of thing an offshore supplier who has not worked with regulated entities will improvise badly.
We are not Cayman attorneys and this is not legal advice. Your compliance officer should review any arrangement.

What this costs
Cayman pricing is usually benchmarked against North American consultancies, because that is the realistic alternative. Bands below are indicative for original work, quoted in Cayman dollars.
| Project | North American consultancy | With us | Timeline |
|---|---|---|---|
| Business or operator website | CI$8,000 - 25,000 | CI$650 - 1,800 | 4-6 weeks |
| Corporate site with CMS | CI$25,000 - 70,000 | CI$1,800 - 5,000 | 8-14 weeks |
| Direct booking platform | CI$30,000 - 120,000 | CI$2,500 - 12,000 | 8-16 weeks |
| Investor or client portal | CI$80,000 - 350,000 | CI$6,000 - 45,000 | 4-10 months |
| Document workflow and reporting | CI$60,000 - 250,000 | CI$5,000 - 35,000 | 3-9 months |
| Ongoing support and maintenance | CI$1,500 - 6,000/mo | CI$150 - 900/mo | Retained |
Why an Indian studio for a Cayman business
The honest answer has three parts, and cost is only one of them.
The first is that the systems Cayman financial-services firms need are ones we have built many times. A fund administrator needing investor reporting with a verifiable audit trail has a structurally similar problem to a manufacturer needing production reporting that survives an audit: defined inputs, controlled transformation, output that someone external will scrutinise. The domain language differs and the engineering does not.
The second is that a small market is badly served by large consultancies. A firm of forty people in George Town is not a priority account for a North American consultancy, and tends to get junior staff and slow responses at senior prices. We are a studio, not a pyramid, so the people who scope your work are the people who build it.
The third is the time difference, which cuts both ways and is worth stating as a genuine benefit rather than only a cost. Work progresses overnight from your perspective. You end your day having raised three things and start the next with them addressed. For a business where the bottleneck is usually your own availability to review rather than our availability to build, that rhythm suits well.
Where we would tell you to hire locally or regionally: if you need someone physically present, if the project needs frequent live workshops with many stakeholders, or if it depends on detailed knowledge of Cayman regulatory filing formats that someone should be writing specifications for rather than learning on your project.

How to start
Given the time difference, we are more insistent than usual that Cayman clients begin with something small. It is the only reliable way to find out whether asynchronous working suits your organisation, and some organisations genuinely dislike it.
A good first engagement is bounded and useful on its own: an audit of an existing site with fixes implemented, one report automated, a single portal screen built to a specification, or a booking flow rebuilt. Two to four weeks. Enough to see how we write, how quickly things move, and whether the weekly call plus written handover rhythm works for you.
If it does, the larger project starts from a position of knowledge. If it does not, you have learned that at low cost, and we would rather you found out on a small engagement than a large one.
Email or WhatsApp +91 70033 91355. We read messages first thing, which for you is late afternoon, and we will come back with a view including an honest assessment of whether the time difference makes us a poor fit for what you are describing.

The market we serve
These are not the same page with the place name swapped. The industries, the buying pattern and the work we are asked for differ materially between them, which is why each has its own.

Enquiries now arrive with specifications already attached
Our previous website had a stock photograph and a paragraph about commitment to quality. It brought us nothing in four years. Sayak spent two days on our shop floor before drawing anything, and what they built lists our machine capacities, tolerance ranges and certifications in a way a purchasing officer can actually evaluate. The change was not in the number of enquiries so much as in their quality — people now call having already decided we can do the job, so the conversation starts at commercial terms.
They talked us out of half of what we asked for
We went in with a long list of features we were certain we needed. They built roughly half of it and explained clearly why the rest would be maintained forever and used by nobody. Six months on they were right about every item. The store is fast on phones, which matters because that is where almost all of our traffic comes from, and our team updates the catalogue ourselves without calling anyone.
Parallel running for a full month meant nobody had to trust it blind
Replacing a system a clinic depends on is frightening, and most vendors we spoke to proposed a weekend cutover. Sayak ran the new system alongside our registers for a full month and only switched once the numbers matched every day. Our front desk staff were part of the design rather than being trained at the end, which is why they actually use it. Report preparation that took a person most of a morning now takes minutes.
What Cayman Islands buyers ask us
If yours is not here, ask it directly. We would rather tell you we are a poor fit in the first call than in month three.
Yes. We deliver entirely from Kolkata and run Cayman engagements asynchronously by design. The time difference is ten and a half hours with no daylight saving in Cayman, so the overlap is roughly nine to ten in the morning Cayman time. We hold one fixed weekly call in that window and work through written daily handovers either side of it.
By structuring around it rather than hoping. One fixed weekly live call inside the single hour of overlap, with an agenda circulated beforehand. A written update from us at the end of our day, which arrives before you start yours. Questions raised in a shared channel with enough context to be answered without a call. Decisions recorded in one document. The compensating benefit is that everything is written down, so scope disputes are rare.
We build to them. CIMA expects a licensee to retain responsibility for outsourced functions and to evidence oversight of the provider. In practice that means named individuals with logged access, version-controlled and attributable changes, documentation readable by someone who was not involved, and an exit plan covering handover of code, credentials and documentation written into the contract from the start. Your compliance officer should review any specific arrangement; we are not Cayman attorneys.
Indicatively, a business or operator website runs CI$650 to CI$1,800 with us against CI$8,000 to CI$25,000 from a North American consultancy, and a corporate site with a CMS CI$1,800 to CI$5,000 against CI$25,000 to CI$70,000. Portals and workflow systems are larger projects and priced on scope. These are bands for original work, not quotations.
Yes, and it is one of the two distinct halves of our Cayman work. The commercial case is usually the commission paid to aggregator platforms: a direct channel that is fast on mobile, honest about the experience and easy to book will recover a meaningful share of that. The build has to be paired with search visibility for the phrases travellers actually use when planning, which we handle as part of the same engagement.
Not in itself. The Act is closely modelled on the GDPR, so the transfer principles are familiar and manageable through contractual safeguards, named access and deletion obligations. For most builds the cleaner answer is to avoid the question by developing against anonymised or synthetic data and restricting production access to named individuals under logged conditions, which we propose by default.
