Offshore web and software development for UK businesses
Of every market we export to, the United Kingdom is the easiest to work with. Five hours of our working day overlap with yours, English is the working language on both sides, and British buyers already understand Indian engineering delivery without it needing to be explained.
We already deliver here, and we are straightforward about how
To be clear about the delivery model rather than leaving you to discover it: every engineer is in Kolkata and we hold no United Kingdom entity or office. We state that once, plainly, because suppliers who register a local virtual address to appear established are misleading you and it is worth knowing which kind you are dealing with. Everything above is a claim you can test on the first call. Read what clients say.
The United Kingdom has been buying software development from India for thirty years, which means the conversation here starts further along than it does anywhere else. Nobody needs convincing that Indian engineers are capable. What a British buyer wants to establish is narrower and more useful: whether this particular supplier communicates well, whether the code will be maintainable by someone else afterwards, and whether the data arrangement will survive their own compliance review.
Those are the right questions, and this page answers them directly rather than restating the case for offshore generally. It covers what we cost in sterling, how the timezone actually works, what UK GDPR requires when personal data leaves the country, and where our experience genuinely transfers to British problems.
The timezone position is worth stating up front because it is our strongest practical advantage in this market. Our working day of 09:30 to 19:30 IST covers 04:00 to 14:00 GMT. Your entire morning sits inside our working day. A question raised at nine gets an answer before lunch, which is closer to working with a supplier in Europe than one eight thousand kilometres away.
Roughly half our UK work is white-label delivery for agencies and studios, mostly in London, who have won an account and need engineering capacity without permanent headcount. The other half is direct: established businesses, frequently in manufacturing, distribution or professional services, with an ageing system or a site that no longer competes.
What we cost in sterling
UK agency day rates for competent development sit broadly between four hundred and fifty and nine hundred pounds, higher in London and higher again for anything touching regulated industries. The bands below are indicative for original work with us, and the honest comparison includes the coordination overhead that any offshore engagement carries.
A caution on comparing rates
An hourly rate comparison flatters offshore more than the total cost does. Offshore engagements need more written specification and more asynchronous clarification, and occasionally something is built to a misunderstanding and redone. Allow for that and the saving is still substantial. Ignore it, choose on rate alone, and you will get the experience that gives offshore its poor reputation.
| Project | Typical UK agency | With us | Timeline |

| Corporate site with CMS, 15-60 pages | GBP 18,000 - 60,000 | GBP 1,300 - 4,000 | 8-14 weeks |
| Shopify or WooCommerce storefront | GBP 15,000 - 75,000 | GBP 1,000 - 5,000 | 6-14 weeks |

Why the UK timezone works better than any other market we serve
India is five and a half hours ahead of GMT, four and a half under British Summer Time. Our 09:30 to 19:30 IST working day is 04:00 to 14:00 in London. The overlap with a normal British working day is therefore from nine in the morning until two in the afternoon, which is about five hours.
That changes the character of the engagement compared with, say, Australia or the Caribbean. Live calls can be scheduled at normal hours for both sides without anyone working late. A problem discovered at half past nine in London is being worked on within minutes rather than the following day. Code review, pairing and design discussion all become practical in real time.
It also means we can run genuinely agile engagements with British clients rather than the heavily documented, batch-oriented process that large time gaps force. Daily standups work. So does dropping into a call for ten minutes to resolve something rather than writing three paragraphs about it.
The residual gap is our afternoon, which is your early morning, and that is useful rather than problematic: work lands overnight from your perspective, so there is progress to review when you start.

UK GDPR, the IDTA and the transfer question
India does not hold a UK adequacy decision. Any transfer of personal data from the UK to us therefore requires an appropriate safeguard under Article 46, and in practice that means either the International Data Transfer Agreement or the UK Addendum to the EU standard contractual clauses, supported by a transfer risk assessment.
We sign the IDTA as a matter of course and will complete your transfer risk assessment questionnaire. We are not going to pretend this is a formality: your data protection officer will want to know where data is stored, who has access, what technical measures apply and what happens on termination, and those answers need to be specific rather than reassuring. Ours are documented and we will put them in writing before you commit to anything.
For a great many projects the cleanest answer is to avoid the question. If we do not need production personal data to build what you are asking for, we should not have it. Working with anonymised or synthetic datasets in development, with production access restricted to named individuals under logged conditions, removes most of the transfer exposure and is usually no harder to build against. We propose that by default and only argue for broader access where there is a real reason.
We are not UK solicitors and none of this is legal advice. Your data protection officer or legal adviser should review any arrangement involving personal data.

White-label engineering for UK agencies
London in particular has a large agency sector that subcontracts a substantial proportion of its delivery, usually quietly. There is nothing wrong with this and it is worth being open about, because the arrangement works well when both sides are clear.
You own the client, the brief, the design direction and the commercial relationship. We supply engineering, working inside your repository, following your conventions and coding standards, and reviewing against your definition of done. Our name appears nowhere unless you want it to. We will not contact your client during the engagement or approach them afterwards, and that is a contractual term rather than a promise.
For agencies the value is capacity without permanent cost. A studio that wins a large build faces three options: decline it, hire and then carry the cost through the next quiet quarter, or subcontract. For most independent studios the third is the only one that does not distort the business, and the risk in it is entirely about who you choose.
We can take a fully specified design and build it, or come in earlier and do technical architecture alongside your design process. Most of our agency work is the former, and the engagements that run best are the ones where we are brought in before the design is finalised so we can flag the parts that will be expensive to build before they are sold.

Where our experience genuinely transfers to British problems
The West Midlands and the North are where we are most obviously useful, because the industrial profile is close to our Indian client base. An established Birmingham manufacturer running on spreadsheets and a system nobody has upgraded since 2016 has almost exactly the problem a Howrah engineering firm has, and the systems that solve it are the same: job costing that reflects reality, production tracking against orders, material reconciliation, supplier portals.
eCommerce is the second strong area, and Manchester and Leeds are where most of it comes from. Storefront performance, catalogue scale, faceted navigation that does not degrade at thousands of SKUs, and integration between store, warehouse and accounting are recurring problems we have solved repeatedly.
Professional services websites are a third, less glamorous but consistent: firms whose site has to survive scrutiny from a prospective client who is checking credentials rather than browsing. That is a structure and content problem more than a design one, and it is one we handle well.
Where we are weaker: anything requiring detailed knowledge of UK regulatory or payroll specifics such as HMRC filing formats, IR35 determination logic, or FCA reporting. We can build to a specification, but someone who knows the domain should write it.

Starting small is the sensible way to begin
We would rather not take a large first project from a new UK client, because it is a bad risk for both of us. A bounded first piece of work tells you more about whether this will succeed than any number of reference calls.
Good candidates are a performance and Core Web Vitals audit with the fixes implemented, one integration that has been sitting on the backlog, a single template built to your design, or a two-week automation of something currently done by hand. Small enough to abandon, real enough to judge.
What you are evaluating is not primarily whether we can code. It is whether we write clearly, whether we raise problems early rather than presenting them at the end, whether the work arrives when we said it would, and whether the code is something your own developers could pick up. Those are the things that determine whether a long engagement works, and none of them are visible in a portfolio.
Call or WhatsApp +91 70033 91355, or send a brief and we will come back with a range and an honest view of whether we are the right fit.

3 markets, each with a different problem
These are not the same page with the place name swapped. The industries, the buying pattern and the work we are asked for differ materially between them, which is why each has its own.
Where most British offshore buying decisions are actually made, across fintech, professional services and a large agency sector that quietly subcontracts a great deal of its delivery. Also the most expensive local market in Europe, which is precisely why the offshore conversation happens here first.
The strongest technology and eCommerce base outside London, with a large independent retail and media sector and a fraction of the local agency saturation. On a competition-to-opportunity basis this is the best UK city on our list.
The largest manufacturing and logistics economy in the UK, and the most underserved by digital suppliers relative to its size. The industrial profile is closer to our Indian client base than any other British city.

Enquiries now arrive with specifications already attached
Our previous website had a stock photograph and a paragraph about commitment to quality. It brought us nothing in four years. Sayak spent two days on our shop floor before drawing anything, and what they built lists our machine capacities, tolerance ranges and certifications in a way a purchasing officer can actually evaluate. The change was not in the number of enquiries so much as in their quality — people now call having already decided we can do the job, so the conversation starts at commercial terms.
They talked us out of half of what we asked for
We went in with a long list of features we were certain we needed. They built roughly half of it and explained clearly why the rest would be maintained forever and used by nobody. Six months on they were right about every item. The store is fast on phones, which matters because that is where almost all of our traffic comes from, and our team updates the catalogue ourselves without calling anyone.
Parallel running for a full month meant nobody had to trust it blind
Replacing a system a clinic depends on is frightening, and most vendors we spoke to proposed a weekend cutover. Sayak ran the new system alongside our registers for a full month and only switched once the numbers matched every day. Our front desk staff were part of the design rather than being trained at the end, which is why they actually use it. Report preparation that took a person most of a morning now takes minutes.
What United Kingdom buyers ask us
If yours is not here, ask it directly. We would rather tell you we are a poor fit in the first call than in month three.
Indicatively, a small business website is 500 to 1,300 pounds with us against 6,000 to 18,000 from a UK agency, and a corporate site with a CMS 1,300 to 4,000 against 18,000 to 60,000. Those are bands for original work. Allow for coordination overhead across the time difference when you compare total cost rather than hourly rate; the saving remains substantial but is not quite as large as a rate comparison implies.
India is five and a half hours ahead of GMT, four and a half during British Summer Time. Our working day covers 04:00 to 14:00 UK time, so your entire morning and early afternoon overlap with ours, roughly five hours. It is the most convenient major market we serve, and it means daily calls, live code review and real-time problem solving are all practical rather than aspirational.
It can be, and it requires the right safeguard. India has no UK adequacy decision, so transfers need the International Data Transfer Agreement or the UK Addendum to the EU standard contractual clauses, plus a transfer risk assessment. We sign the IDTA as standard and complete TRA questionnaires. For many projects the cleaner answer is to avoid transferring personal data at all by developing against anonymised or synthetic datasets, which we propose by default.
No. We have no UK entity, no UK office and no UK phone number, and we do not claim any. We invoice from India in sterling and work to UK contract terms. If having a UK-registered counterparty is a hard procurement requirement for you, we are not a fit and will tell you so in the first call.
Yes, and around half our UK work is exactly that. You keep the client, the brief and the commercial terms. We work in your repository, to your standards, under your brand, and we do not contact your client during or after the engagement. That non-solicitation is a contract term, not an assurance.
Bank transfer in sterling, Wise, or card against invoice. We invoice from India, so UK VAT is not charged on our fees, though as a business customer you may have reverse-charge obligations. Confirm with your accountant, since it depends on your VAT position. Payment is staged against milestones rather than taken in advance.
