Web design and software development company for Mumbai
Mumbai has more agencies per square kilometre than any Indian city and correspondingly high rates. We work with Mumbai businesses who want the engineering without the Lower Parel overhead.
Mumbai is the most competitive and most expensive market for digital work in India. Agency rates in Lower Parel, BKC and Andheri reflect Mumbai commercial rent and Mumbai salaries, and for a mid-sized business the quotes can make an otherwise sensible project look unaffordable.
We are a Kolkata studio, which means our cost base is roughly half of a comparable Mumbai agency and our engineering standard is not. A substantial share of our Mumbai work comes through referral from clients who were quoted three times as much locally for the same scope.
The work itself skews toward the sectors the city runs on: financial services and the long tail of businesses serving them, media and entertainment, logistics and freight around JNPT, trading and distribution, and a large and growing D2C retail sector.
Mumbai buyers are direct about commercials and impatient with process, which suits us. The first conversation is a scoping call rather than a pitch, and we publish rates rather than pricing off what a buyer appears able to afford.
What Mumbai businesses actually ask us for
The pattern differs from the rest of our Indian client base because Mumbai has more financial-services adjacency than any other city.
The largest category is internal systems for businesses serving the BFSI sector: broking operations, NBFC back offices, insurance intermediaries and the compliance-heavy administrative layer around all of them. The binding constraint is almost never transaction volume. It is evidence, meaning an audit trail that shows who did what, when and under what authority, because a regulator or an auditor will look.
The second is D2C and eCommerce, which Mumbai has more of than anywhere except Bangalore. The problems are catalogue scale, storefront performance on mobile, and the integration between store, warehouse and accounting that nobody budgeted for at launch.
The third is logistics and trading, particularly around the port and the freight economy, where the requirement is visibility: where consignments are, what a movement actually cost, and reporting that reconciles rather than being assembled from exports.
Where we work here
How we work with Mumbai clients
Almost everything is delivered remotely and that works well within India: the same timezone, the same working week, and the ability to be in Mumbai within a day when a project genuinely needs it.
For discovery on operational projects we travel. A specification written from video calls describes what people say they do; two days spent watching the work describes what they actually do, and those are rarely the same document. For a Mumbai engagement we budget that visit into the first phase rather than treating it as an extra.
Review happens as working software in a browser rather than status documents. You get a named engineer reachable directly on WhatsApp during working hours, with no account manager relaying messages, which is the main reason our revision rounds are short.
Why Mumbai businesses look outside Mumbai
Mumbai commercial rent is the highest in India and agency salaries have to compete with financial services and the large technology firms hiring the same people. Both feed directly into the day rate, and neither has anything to do with the quality of the code.
The practical effect is that a project which would be routine elsewhere becomes a capital decision. A corporate site with a proper CMS quoted at eight to eighteen lakh in Mumbai needs board approval at a mid-sized firm. The same scope with us sits in the one to four lakh range, which moves it from a capital decision to an operating one. That shift, rather than the raw saving, is usually what actually gets the project built.
The caution we give every Mumbai buyer is the same one we give everyone: do not choose on rate alone. The gap between a good supplier and a bad one is far wider than the gap between Mumbai and Kolkata pricing, and most of the disappointment in this market comes from choosing the cheapest bid rather than from choosing outside the city.
Every engagement starts with a conversation, not a proposal template.

Building for a regulated adjacency
A large share of Mumbai businesses either are regulated or serve someone who is, and that changes what good engineering looks like more than most suppliers account for.
An audit trail stops being a logging afterthought and becomes a first-class requirement that shapes the data model. Role-based access has to be enforced at the data layer rather than hidden in the interface. Approval chains need to record not only the decision but who was entitled to make it at that moment, which means permission history matters as much as current permission state.
None of that is technically exotic. It is exacting, and it is badly served by suppliers who treat auditability as a feature to add later rather than a constraint to design around. We build to it by default for this category of client because retrofitting it is expensive and usually incomplete.

What this costs
Indicative bands for original work. The largest variable in either column is integration with systems you already run, not page count.
| Project | Mumbai agency | With us |
|---|---|---|
| Business site, 6-12 pages | ₹2,00,000 - ₹6,00,000 | ₹45,000 - ₹1,20,000 |
| Corporate site with CMS | ₹8,00,000 - ₹18,00,000 | ₹1,20,000 - ₹4,00,000 |
| eCommerce storefront | ₹6,00,000 - ₹25,00,000 | ₹1,00,000 - ₹5,00,000 |
| Custom web application | ₹20,00,000 - ₹80,00,000 | ₹3,00,000 - ₹30,00,000 |
| Maintenance and support | ₹40,000 - ₹1,50,000/mo | ₹8,000 - ₹35,000/mo |
What being near you actually changes
Proximity is easy to claim and harder to demonstrate, so it is worth being specific about where it makes a measurable difference. It matters most in discovery. A specification written from a video call describes what people say they do; a day spent watching the work describes what they actually do, and those are rarely the same document. Almost every scope we have revised for the better was revised after someone stood beside the process.
It matters again at rollout. Adoption of a new system depends far more on being in the room during the first week than on the quality of the training material. When a supervisor finds a screen slower than the register it replaced, that needs to be seen, timed and fixed within a day — not raised as a ticket, triaged, and addressed a fortnight later by which point the register is back in use.
And it matters when something goes wrong. A managed client with a system we operate has an escalation path that reaches a named engineer, and for anything genuinely serious that engineer can be at your premises the same day rather than the same week. In twenty years we have needed that a handful of times, and on each of those occasions it was the difference between an incident and a crisis.
What does not require proximity is the build itself. Two-week slices with a demo every alternate Friday on a real staging URL, written notes after every review, and a named engineer reachable on WhatsApp work identically whether you are in Salt Lake or Singapore. We are deliberate about which phases need presence and which do not, and we budget travel into the proposal rather than treating it as an extra.
In person vs remote
- Discovery workshops and site studies — in person, always.
- Design reviews at each stage — in person where practical.
- Build and iteration — remote, with a fortnightly demo on a staging URL.
- Rollout and first-week support — in person, because adoption depends on it.
- Ongoing support and development — remote, with on-site for serious incidents.

A corporate site with a CMS typically runs ₹8,00,000 to ₹18,00,000 from a Mumbai agency and ₹1,20,000 to ₹4,00,000 with us. The difference is cost base rather than engineering standard: Mumbai commercial rent and salaries feed directly into the day rate. The largest variable in any quote is integration with systems you already run.
For operational and discovery work, yes, and we budget it into the first phase rather than treating it as an extra. A specification written from video calls describes what people say they do; two days watching the work describes what they actually do. For marketing sites and most web builds, remote delivery is entirely adequate and we would not charge you for travel that adds nothing.
Yes, and it is our largest Mumbai category. The constraint is almost never volume, it is evidence: audit trails that survive scrutiny, role-based access enforced at the data layer, and approval chains that record who was entitled to decide at the time. We design to that from the start because retrofitting auditability is expensive and usually incomplete.
Cost base, mainly. Our rates are roughly half a comparable Mumbai agency for the same engineering standard, which moves a project from a capital decision to an operating one. We are in the same timezone and the same working week, and we travel for discovery when a project needs it. A substantial share of our Mumbai work arrives by referral from clients quoted three times as much locally.
The recurring problems are category pages that degrade as the catalogue grows, faceted navigation that fails on combined filters, and stock sync that sells items already gone. These are engineering problems rather than design ones, which is why a redesign rarely fixes them. We start with a measured audit so the commercial case is established before you commit to a build.
