Digital marketing for manufacturers, aimed at the shortlist
Industrial buyers do not convert from advertising. They build a shortlist, usually before contacting anyone, and the entire objective of manufacturing marketing is to be on it.
Why the generic answer fails here
B2B industrial sales cycles run for months and involve several people, so the metrics consumer marketing uses are actively misleading. Enquiry volume is a poor measure and cost per enquiry is worse, because one qualified enquiry from a buyer with a genuine schedule is worth more than fifty from people comparing prices. Optimising for volume optimises for the wrong buyer.
Most digital marketing advice assumes a short consideration period and a single decision-maker. Industrial B2B has neither. A buyer sourcing a component supplier may take four months, involve engineering, procurement and quality, and make the decision on criteria that are largely settled before anyone speaks to you.
That changes the objective entirely. You are not trying to persuade anyone through advertising. You are trying to be one of the three or four suppliers who make the shortlist, and shortlists are built from published specification and from reputation rather than from campaigns.
So industrial marketing is mostly content and findability, with a narrow and specific role for paid search. Almost everything else that agencies sell to manufacturers is wasted.
What actually gets a manufacturer shortlisted
The list is short and most of it is unglamorous.
Published specification comes first: machine list with capacities, materials handled, tolerance ranges you can hold repeatably, certifications with dates, batch sizes and lead times. A buyer cannot shortlist what they cannot evaluate, and most manufacturer websites publish nothing evaluable.
Findability for process and material phrases comes second. Buyers search for what they need made, not for your company name. Pages for each process and each material combination you handle are what capture that, and they are content rather than technical work.
Trade presence comes third and is frequently undervalued: IndiaMART where relevant to your category, trade associations, industry directories and the exhibitions your buyers attend. These are not glamorous channels and for many industrial categories they produce more qualified enquiries than search does.
And references. In industrial B2B a named customer you can mention, or a buyer willing to take a call, moves a decision further than anything you can publish about yourself.
In practice
Every engagement starts with a conversation, not a proposal template.
Thirty minutes with a senior engineer. You leave with an architecture sketch and an honest cost range, whether or not you hire us.
Where paid search fits, and where it does not
Paid search has a narrow and genuine role in industrial marketing and a wide range of expensive misapplications.
It works on high-intent, specific phrases: a process plus a material plus sometimes a region. Someone searching that way has a requirement and is looking for someone to fulfil it. Budgets should be small, phrase sets tight, and the landing page should be the specification page for that process rather than the homepage.
It does not work as awareness advertising. Display and social campaigns aimed at industrial buyers consume budget with very little to show, because the buyer is not receptive when they are not sourcing and you cannot predict when they will be. The exception is genuine recruitment advertising, which is a different objective.
The metric to watch is not cost per enquiry. It is the proportion of enquiries that are qualified, meaning from a buyer with an actual requirement rather than a student, a competitor or someone collecting quotes for a purchasing exercise. A campaign producing four qualified enquiries a month at a high cost each is usually a better outcome than forty unqualified ones cheaply.

What it costs
Ranges rather than a figure, because the variables below move it more than page count does. We publish these rather than pricing off what a buyer appears able to afford.

Enquiries now arrive with specifications already attached
Our previous website had a stock photograph and a paragraph about commitment to quality. It brought us nothing in four years. Sayak spent two days on our shop floor before drawing anything, and what they built lists our machine capacities, tolerance ranges and certifications in a way a purchasing officer can actually evaluate. The change was not in the number of enquiries so much as in their quality — people now call having already decided we can do the job, so the conversation starts at commercial terms.
They talked us out of half of what we asked for
We went in with a long list of features we were certain we needed. They built roughly half of it and explained clearly why the rest would be maintained forever and used by nobody. Six months on they were right about every item. The store is fast on phones, which matters because that is where almost all of our traffic comes from, and our team updates the catalogue ourselves without calling anyone.
Parallel running for a full month meant nobody had to trust it blind
Replacing a system a clinic depends on is frightening, and most vendors we spoke to proposed a weekend cutover. Sayak ran the new system alongside our registers for a full month and only switched once the numbers matched every day. Our front desk staff were part of the design rather than being trained at the end, which is why they actually use it. Report preparation that took a person most of a morning now takes minutes.
Common questions
If yours is not here, ask it on the call. We would rather answer a hard question early than discover a mismatch in week six.

Rarely, and it consumes budget reliably. The buyer is not receptive when they are not sourcing and you cannot predict when they will be, so awareness advertising to industrial buyers has very little to show for it. The exception is recruitment advertising, which is a different objective with a different audience.
Machine list with capacities, materials handled, tolerance ranges you can hold repeatably, certifications with issue and expiry dates, batch sizes and realistic lead times, and honest statement of in-house versus subcontracted processes. A buyer cannot shortlist what they cannot evaluate, and most manufacturer websites publish nothing evaluable.
For many industrial categories, yes, and they are frequently undervalued because they are unglamorous. IndiaMART where relevant to your category, trade associations and industry directories produce more qualified enquiries than search does for some sectors. The requirement is that listings carry the same specification detail and consistent contact information as your site.
A one-off specification content build runs ₹60,000 to ₹2,00,000. Ongoing content, search and directory work is ₹25,000 to ₹75,000 a month. Adding managed paid search with matched landing pages and qualification tracking starts around ₹75,000 a month.
